Bexley Cricket Club has been in existence for over 200 years - records exist before that but the Club celebrated it's official bicentennial year in 2005. The present ground in Manor Way has been in use by the club since 1866. It is a perfect setting for cricket and the socialising that goes with it.  Our new additional playing facility at Loring Hall now has two squares providing cricket for our lower elevens with first class facilities.

The Club 1st XI is currently one of the 10 KCL Premier League sides in Kent. The 2nd XI play in the Kent 2nd XI Premier League. Bexley players past and present have played at both County and International Level including Min Patel, Adam Ball and Adam Riley.

The Club runs six league sides on Saturdays and from 2017 has been fielding eight Saturday sides, seven regularly, the Red Caps and the Wayfarers playing friendly fixtures.  There are normally two sides on Sundays, competing in cup and league competitions and friendly fixtures. Cricket Week in July is a festival of cricket and evening social events, generally recognised to be one of the best in South East England.

The Club has a very successful Colts section for both boys and girls catering for ages from 9 to 18 years.  The section has been a major contributor of Playing and Non Playing members for the main Club and is an integral part of the Club and its structure. An established senior Kent Tour in August also provides development opportunities for younger players  and those wishing to play some midweek cricket.

The Colts teams play in the North Kent Junior League and enter National competitions at U13 and U15 level.  The U19 Bexley Rangers are the current ECB U19 T20 National Champions winning the title at Grace Road in September 2014 and were the Kent County Champions in 2015. We have an All Stars group with up to 100 younger children taking part in cricket activities at the Club on a Friday evening.

Bexley CC - Introduce the Wayfarers

In what is already a promising looking start to the season, this Saturday the Club is fielding 8 teams on Saturday. The Red Caps (7th XI) are now joined by the Bexley Wayfarers. I can't remember when the former Wayfarers ceased to be but through the hard work and efforts of the Cricket Committee and the commitment of our playing members along with the young colts champing at the bit to play senior cricket, we have done it.....8 teams (with a few to spare). Despite the best efforts of the Cricket Committee it is too late to be entered into league cricket this season but next year, if the trend continues, the 7th XI Red Caps could certainly be playing in the Kent Regional League.

None of this is easy and already selection for the teams, certainly at the lower end, is challenging for the selectors. But it will give the opportunity for more playing members to play cricket and introduce our younger colts to the senior game and all that goes with it.
We wish the Wayfarers all the best for Saturday against Beckenham 4th XI!!
See you all at the Club Saturday evening.
